(SARASOTA, FL 9/15/2011) Gov. Rick Scott's office has announced the appointment of Henry Rodriguez, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Woodmere Capital Group, to the board of Enterprise Florida, the state public-private agency charged with luring jobs and businesses to Florida, for a three-year term.
This is actually Rodriguez’s second term on the Enterprise Florida board. Rodriguez originally was appointed to the Enterprise Florida board in 2007 by Gov. Charlie Crist, but had left the board earlier this year when his term expired.
Enterprise Florida is charged with heading the state's economic development efforts, including the negotiation of incentives to companies relocating to Florida.
Rodriguez, an active contributor to the state Republican Party and GOP candidates during the terms of both governors, acknowledged that Florida's economy is in a much different state than in 2007 when he first joined Enterprise Florida's board.
"The emphasis by this governor on economic development is substantial," said Rodriguez, who also served on Scott's economic development transition committee.
